May 14
Friday 1000 hrs. Just arrived in Victoria. A fast passage almost 16 days. The best yet. A record as we did almost go straight without the normal loop up north.

Had to motor the last 80 miles in but that is normal for here as the wind are fickly in the Juan De Fuca Strait.

After clearing with Customs we docked at Victoria Empress docks. Keith and Rugger helping getting the boat ready and than time for a quick arrival celebration.

A sunny day, great to be back. The water front busy as usual with 2 cruise ships in town.

Keith and Rugger moving off today and Western Grace is going to Sidney to get cleaned up and get some repairs done.

This will be the last log entry for the time being. We thank all for your interest. Joanne & John are taking a break and we are contemplating selling the boat. If you know anyone interested please contact us.  Thanks again.

May 13

Crew Joanne, John, Keith & Rugger. Left April 28 in the morning to just meet Rob & Rose who where on a delivery from Mexico with the yacht Seahorse IV just inside the breakwater. Just a few shouts back and forward and we where on our way. Just outside the harbor rough conditions and we motored for a few hours to get wind. Than a fair East wind set in and before long we where sailing close reach on a Northern course.

The next few days we had brisk trade winds and we made good Northing. Crew doing well.  As we got more North the wind veered slowly and we change course to NE  for Juan De Fuca Straits. Made some spectacular good days the best being 194 Nm. A wild and wet ride with the fore deck constantly awash.

On May 4th we ran finally out of the strong stuff and around noon turned on the engine as the weather forecast indicated a big high forming right overhead.

After struggling for a few days ran into a gale on May 9 with winds to 45 KTS. A great ride especially enjoyed by Rugger.  Have not seen a single fish despite diligent fishing by the crew. Where have all the fish gone?

We now closing in on Juan De Fuca slowly. Light Southerlies today but the fore cast is for light and variable meaning that if we want to get somewhere we may have to burn fuel.

Day 14.  We are still making great progress. Picked up the tail end of a big Alaska low pushing us on with 15 Kts SW winds.

Day 15. At  we are only 200 Nm off Cape Flattery. Still sailing. All look forward to making landfall.
