June 25

Much has happened since arriving in Victoria on June the 4th. Checked in with customs and said farewell to our crew Phil and Bryan. Then within 20 minutes underway with the tide and moving North.

Proceeded to Cordova bay and anchored of the beach at the Christensen and had a lovely high tea and exchanged gifts. Fish for wine. Then moved on past Sidney and anchored for the night off Salt spring Island. Next day arrived in Nanaimo and at night were lifted out at Stones Marina boat yard.

The new boat lift made short work of our 40 tons and by 2300 hrs are settled down on the blocks.

Have been lots of work. Replaced the shaft was worn and pitted. Had Steamship inspections and a large work list. Painted the hull as it was getting sun bleached.

Now many projects later are ready to get back in water soon. Today Monday have a appointment to see the sail maker and get the main back in shape.

June 4

Entered last night strait of Juan De Fuca. sailed off and on. Visibility poor at times.

Are now sailing just South of Sooke. Should be in midmorning.

June 2

Just turned engine on. Sailed all day in perfect flat condition and moved remarkable well in light winds. Some fog, but not bad at all. Better than most trips so far.

Yesterday met supertanker "Alaskan Legend". We spotted them at 12 Nm visual. Did give them as call as CPA looked close. Tanker came back and had seen us to already. Great to know someone is watching. Later on when closer they came back with question how large(small)we where as they where discussing that among them self's. Ways of the sea where every encounter at sea is discussed and savored as the news of the day. Turn on the radio or TV and you get news from all over. We still live in a different world where every day contact and small events are our news. Sad to think that in a few years there probably is nowhere to hide from the onslaught of news. Heard some statistics that 1 in 5 American's take computer on holidays to stay in touch.

We have experienced ourself's cruising among the worlds finest scenery some people are not seeing anything and play with there computer.

Fishing has been the pits the last few days. Are now changing gear in the faint hope to maybe get a salmon?

255 to cape Flattery. Where hoping to arrive Monday early but looks like that is slipping away
